STILL LIFE

Describe what you were most satisfied with: I was most satisfied with the shading. I thought I did really well with the different gradients.I never expected to do well with this still life drawing.

Explain Why: I thought the shading turned out really good because i was instructed to layer properly and use my pencil the right way so the shading became more satisfying.

What was the most difficult part os this assignment: The most difficult part of this assignment was planing where to put the mask and the skull so that everything looked level and even.

Describe what is strong about the still life: I think the strongest component of the still life would be the mask. When i really like drawing something i have a tendency to put a lot of time into it,so i definitely think the strongest component of the picture would be the mask in general.

Describe how you used the elements and principles in you still life: This whole assignment was about the shading.I focused most of my time on the shading so i can achieve a realistic level. Also proportion. It had to be proportional and easy to look at.

If you could change one thing about your artwork what would it be and why: I would change nothing about my artwork.I have never fully accomplished a still life drawing, and i have to say that this has been the best i have ever done! :D

Artistic Inpsiration 3

While I was at home I was trying to find new ideas so i can come up with better pictures to draw.I then decided to leave my drawings to aside and venture the world wide web. While i was Surfing I decided that i should reflect back on my grade nine year and so it began! I said "why not try something earthy, something historic something....Canadian. Than it hit me...something like landscape!!! I thought of when we were first learning the group of 7, i decided to pick Tom Thompson because of his creative landscapes of Algonquin Park. A perfect idea to be more involved with painting!

I looked up a few of his paintings and recreated one of them."West Wind" seemed to be well known. So I started. I pulled out a canvas i just so happened to get for christmas and paint flew! I was so involved i was recreating a master piece! When i had finished i decided to look at my so called "master piece" it was definitely a piece of work but the word "master" was no where to be located. Some might of said it looked terrible! I couldn't believe that and easy looking painting could be extremely hard to accomplish. Lets just say this was basically a trial and error sort of thing. I definitely learned that just because something looks easy doesn't mean it is.

Going back and reflecting on my grade nine assignment about Tom Thompson made me learn even more about his painting ability.I try harder to accomplish more out of my work because of that day.He has definitely been an artistic inspiration.

personal Inspiration 2

I was listening to the radio one day and a radio personnel had said a quote from the Dalia Lama. It was very inspiring because it is reality and it makes so much sense.

The Dalia Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity:

Man..Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.

It had inspired me to draw more thoughtful pictures and scenery's

Artistic Inspiration 2

In class we have been talking alot about Tim Burton. And one of Tim Burtons inspirations is a man named Edward Gorey. His drawings look creepy and dark and his poems are also the same. He is also inspiring to me because although his poems are creepy they are also kind of funny.
