3.Manage to focus users attention
4.Strive for feature exposure
5.Make use of effective writing
6.Strive for simplicity
7.Don't be afraid of the white space
8.Communicate effectively with a "visible language"
9.Conventions are our friends
10.Test early,test often
Bad websites
Problems with these sites:
1.way to much information
2.they don't get to the point until later on
3.attention becomes limited
4.images are pushed together and in another case they are not very satisfying to look at
5.writing is smaller and enclosed
6.the websites are not simple they are cluttered with information
7.there is barely white space
8.communication is hard to make out because things are jumbled together
9.they try to make there website different but it ends up looking like a mess
10. everything is bunched together
It can be very distracting looking at websites like this because users are looking to find the key point they are looking for and when looking at these websites your eyes are everywhere but the actual thing you are looking for.It has bad formation and where they placed things, the colours are dull and uninteresting and overall it is a complete mess.
Here are some good websites:
.
2.straight to the point
3.catches a users eye
4.strives for exposure
5.effective writing
6.simple yet effective
7.leaves space
8.good communication
9.simple
10.all around good website
Overall these websites are clean yet bright, it gets straight to the point of what the viewer is looking for or wants to know. The pictures go with the writing and it works out.

STILL LIFE
Describe what you were most satisfied with: I was most satisfied with the shading. I thought I did really well with the different gradients.I never expected to do well with this still life drawing.
Explain Why: I thought the shading turned out really good because i was instructed to layer properly and use my pencil the right way so the shading became more satisfying.
What was the most difficult part os this assignment: The most difficult part of this assignment was planing where to put the mask and the skull so that everything looked level and even.
Describe what is strong about the still life: I think the strongest component of the still life would be the mask. When i really like drawing something i have a tendency to put a lot of time into it,so i definitely think the strongest component of the picture would be the mask in general.
Describe how you used the elements and principles in you still life: This whole assignment was about the shading.I focused most of my time on the shading so i can achieve a realistic level. Also proportion. It had to be proportional and easy to look at.
If you could change one thing about your artwork what would it be and why: I would change nothing about my artwork.I have never fully accomplished a still life drawing, and i have to say that this has been the best i have ever done! :D
Artistic Inpsiration 3
While I was at home I was trying to find new ideas so i can come up with better pictures to draw.I then decided to leave my drawings to aside and venture the world wide web. While i was Surfing I decided that i should reflect back on my grade nine year and so it began! I said "why not try something earthy, something historic something....Canadian. Than it hit me...something like landscape!!! I thought of when we were first learning the group of 7, i decided to pick Tom Thompson because of his creative landscapes of Algonquin Park. A perfect idea to be more involved with painting!
I looked up a few of his paintings and recreated one of them."West Wind" seemed to be well known. So I started. I pulled out a canvas i just so happened to get for christmas and paint flew! I was so involved i was recreating a master piece! When i had finished i decided to look at my so called "master piece" it was definitely a piece of work but the word "master" was no where to be located. Some might of said it looked terrible! I couldn't believe that and easy looking painting could be extremely hard to accomplish. Lets just say this was basically a trial and error sort of thing. I definitely learned that just because something looks easy doesn't mean it is.
Going back and reflecting on my grade nine assignment about Tom Thompson made me learn even more about his painting ability.I try harder to accomplish more out of my work because of that day.He has definitely been an artistic inspiration.

The Dalia Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity:
Man..Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.
It had inspired me to draw more thoughtful pictures and scenery's

describe whch print you were most satisfied with:
The print i was most satisfied with was the 12 out of 12(my last print)
explain why:
i chose the 12 out of 12 print because i liked how the ink set on the print, and i liked how it was evenly set.
What was the most difficult part of the assignment?:
the most difficult part of this assignment was the carving.I was afraid that I would carve too much or too little.I had to work slow and be specific.
Describe what is strong about your design. Why is it a good design?
The strongest part about me design would be the swan in general. It stand out, and the colors compliment the swan.I think it it a good design because of the placement. I specifically chose the middle of the tile so it would be easier to look at.
Describe how you used the elements and principles of design in your prints:
I used the colors black and orange so the focal point is on the white swan.Itryed to carve 70% of the bird and clouds so i can reach the requirements of what was asked
If you could change on thing about you artwork, what would it be and why?
If i could change one thing about me artwork it would be the sky.I would of made more clouds to indicate more negative space, therefore having more or at least 70% carved out.

chinese traditional ink painting
This type of painting is referred to as Chinese Bamboo Painting. It might seem easy but it is actually challenging.Chinese Bamboo Painting is Eastern and not Western which means the painting styles are different. While i was painting the most challenging thing was how to hold the paint brushed. There are three types of brushes a fine bristle brush a medium brush and then there is the thick bristle brush. While holding the brush you have to make sure your hand is straight and you cannot rest your arm on the table like most people would do when painting Western pictures. This becomes hard and sometimes it's irritating but in the end it's worth it.

Helvetica
Helvetica Movie Quotations and Blog
Choose one or two of the following quotations and respond to them in a way that summarises the content or message of the movie as well as expresses your opinion on the role and use of typefaces message or meaning of your work. You will need to address the Helvetica typeface specifically in your blog entry
“Governments and Corporations love Helvetica because, on the one hand it makes them look neutral and efficient, but also the smoothness of the letters makes them seem almost human. This is important to them because the image they’re always fighting is that they are authoritarian and that you can get lost in them …”
This quote is saying that Hevetica is eligible and easy to understand. The letters are fluent and they can be used anywhere. in my opinion i think that Helvetica is great. It's something i would use practically all the time. You won't have to worry about people struggling to read it (although it does depend on the way you use it) it's clear and it gets your point across. For example a lot of people use Helvetica for logos for stores and designs. People are going to want to go somewhere where they can understand what the brand is going to sell. If they don't understand what the brand is selling the chances of them shopping there are slim.
Some people choose not to like Helvetica because they say it is plain and boring and they see it everywhere.Although some people think that it's great to stick to the rules and have everything the same.
When we were watching Helvetica there was mixed thoughts of how designers liked to use it and how some of them had no use for it. It was interesting to listen to the people who got interviewed as they told us their thoughts of the advantages and disadvantages of Helvetica.
Manuel Bruni
“We like restrictions … the more restrictions we have the happier we are.”
I chose this quote because some people like to see themselves as people who follow the rules and by using Helvetica it shows that it is another rule to go by.That doesn't mean it's a bad thing.Rules keep things balanced and understanding and by using Helvetica it keeps everything the same.It also means that there is clarity within the words.
In my opinion i like Helvetica because of the rules. It's not messy and it is well organized. It's versatile and easy.
